Johnson had tire problems that led to disappointing finishes at Las Vegas and Bristol, and then had his car damaged in bizarre fashion Monday at Texas Motor Speedway. The windshield of Johnson's car was crushed by grass kicked up by Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car early in the race at Texas. He had to pit several times for repairs, but was able to stay on the lead lap until he cut a tire and lost several laps....
But Kenseth passed him late in the race and Johnson wound up finishing fourth -- one spot behind Kenseth -- to fall another point behind in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. A caution for debris with 27 laps remaining resulted in the leaders coming down pit road, with Johnson losing the lead to Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon, who took two fresh tires while Johnson took four.
